Cindy Shusterman

After teaching high school English in the Bay Area for 17 years, Cindy experienced a massive burn-out and needed to take time off to heal. One of the first things she did was go to a yoga class – something she hadn’t done in over eight years, before the birth of her child. It proved a transformational decision, and motivated her to complete her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at San Francisco’s Yoga Garden (now Folk) in December 2022.

Her mission is to teach children, pre-teens, teens, and adults how to calm and settle their minds using yoga, meditation, and mindfulness. These foundational tools allowed her to completely rebuild her approach to navigating life, starting in January 2022.

Cindy completed 95 certified hours of Teaching Yoga to Children and Teens Training, all with her mentor Alexandra Rossi. She completed Folk Yoga School’s 300 hour Teacher Training in March 2024, with an emphasis on trauma-informed teaching.

In January 2025 she obtained her certification in Yoga Nidra, the yoga of deep rest. This is one of her favorite classes to teach. She also loves teaching Yin, Restorative, Hatha, and Gentle Flow.

Cindy helps children, young people, and adults refocus on the core demands of daily living using the same practices that rescued her – through trauma-conscious classes guided with patience and kindness.

In addition to teaching class at Studio by Live Better, she is the owner of Rebuild Yoga where she brings these offerings to individuals, small groups, and workplace teams.

Yin and Restorative + Yoga Nidra

Rest and restore with Cindy.

This yoga class awaits you with gentleness and slowness at the end of a week. We'll begin by slowing down the breath to regulate our nervous system. Several yin poses will follow, allowing you to find stillness in a held pose. Next, restorative poses allow the body to fully rest and relax, further regulating our nervous system. Lastly, Yoga Nidra (the yoga of deep rest) with meditation will set you up for a dreamy night's sleep.
